人类在享受物质消费时，留下的是垃圾和污染。王久良通过拍摄垃圾，来解读繁荣背后的中国，追溯出口垃圾的国家，发现了一个被物质裹挟的世界。
 中外对话: 即将完成的纪录片《塑料王国》，与之前的《垃圾围城》和酝酿中的“世界的垃圾场”相比，拍摄重点和视角有什么不同？
 王久良:《垃圾围城》拍摄的是北京周边的垃圾污染状况。《塑料王国》呈现的是全世界范围内的塑料垃圾在中国处理的情况。但到达中国的垃圾不仅仅是塑料，所以现在着手做的一个片子叫“世界的垃圾场”，片名还没定下来。这意味着我们要跑遍全中国寻找洋垃圾的踪影，这是个全面的地毯式的搜索。
 片中的“塑料”是双关语。第一个意思是指废旧塑料本身，但它还有第二个更深的含义，表现的是外表的繁荣、实质的脆弱，类似经过 “plastic surgery” （整容手术）后，呈现出来的光鲜的外表。
 经过几十年的高速发展，中国看起来物质繁荣，但背后环境污染带来的健康代价是巨大的。如果你连命都快没了，赚钱又有什么用呢？雾霾、水污染、土壤污染等等，按这些指标算下来的话，你会觉得中国的发展看起来很了不起，但其实很廉价、很脆弱，所以新片英文名字叫Plastic China，就是为了陈述这个主题。
 这仅仅是中国自身的问题吗？中国因为环境问题在国际社会饱受争议，但国际大家庭实际上也扮演了并不光彩的角色，这其中就包括向中国输入垃圾。
 还有一个更隐性的问题是“出口商品”。中国是世界上最大的廉价商品制造国，被誉为“世界工厂”。当一集装箱一集装箱的廉价商品运往国外的时候，带走的是什么？是资源，能源。留在中国大地上的是什么？是污染！
 中国的商品运到你们国家，你们的垃圾又运回中国，生产和抛弃垃圾的环节都在中国，你们是消费者，那我的命运是在为你服务。
 当国外的人们在享受着“中国制造”所带来的便利时，是否想象到，你们的生活是建立在另一个国家所付出的巨大发展代价之上的！

　　Antarctica lives in our dreams as the most remote, the most forbidding continent on Planet Earth. Research from Denmark claimed women on the pill and other forms of hormonal contraception were 70% more likely to be diagnosed with depression than those who were not. And another study has found hormonal contraception was linked to a seemingly dramatic risk of breast cancer.
